Joe Rizzo may be best known to Mainers as the guy who fabricated 8,000 square feet of exhibits for the second largest children's museum in New England, the Maine Discovery Museum in Bangor. Yeah, that's his 13 foot sculpted clock that marks the entrance of the museum.
Rizzo's artistic talents emerged at an early age. At 17. While attending high school in Connecticut, he received recognition for one of the many murals he had painted. After painting a mural for the West Harford Fire Department Joe incorporated his art into the sign industry with lettering, electrical fabrication, and airbrushing.
Once he moved to the state of Maine in the mid-'80s, he explored three-dimensional carving and sculpting and created master plugs and molds for the super flume rides used at Six Flags and Dollywood theme parks. Soon he was doing three-dimensional thematic interior sculptures for businesses, such as Denim & Diamonds in New York, and supermarket interiors.
In addition to commercial carvings and sculpting, Joe has created fine art, jewelry and wildlife carvings. To top it off he spent many years commuting from his new home in Maine, working for TV shows in New York City, and traveling the country doing private 3-D installations and murals.

I am not just a charge scenic, but I also love the industry and being hands on.
Additional to standard scenic tasks, my personal skills include, Lettering, Sculpting,
Mold making and many more such a cement, fiberglass etc. My extensive experience
